Jesse L. Martin to Reprise Poitier Role on Broadway

Jesse L. Martin ("Rent") is heading back to Broadway after wrapping up
his nine-year run on "Law & Order." Martin is in negotiations to
star in "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner?," a new Broadway-aimed
production based on the 1967 movie. In the play Martin will play John
Wade Prentice, the role made popular in the movie by Academy Award
winner Sidney Poitier.
Whoopi Goldberg Joins Producing Team of Broadway's "Bricktop"

Whoopi
Goldberg has joined forces with producers Paul Lambert and Jonas
Neilson to bring "Bricktop - Queen of the Night," a new musical about
1920s performer and Paris nightclub owner Ada "Bricktop" Smith to
Broadway. Goldberg's involvement in the project was announced at the
March 24 Musical Mondays Actors Fund Benefit Concert at Los Angeles' Pantages Theater.

The Los Angeles Women's Theatre Festival (LAWTF) kicks
off its 15th Anniversary, ONWARD AND UPWARD! on Thursday, March 27th
with its Annual Champagne GALA and Awards Ceremony at the historic El
Portal Theatre located at 5269 Lankershim Boulevard, North Hollywood,
CA 91601. This year's exciting Awards Ceremony is hosted by LAWTF
Co-Chairperson Hattie Winston ("Becker") and Ted Lange ("The Love
Boat") and directed and written by Fay Hauser-Price ("Story of a
People").

One
of Broadway’s most beloved musicals, the Tony Award-winning revue
"Ain't Misbehavin'," The Fats
Waller Musical Show, will be presented for the Ahmanson Theatre's 42nd
season at the Music Center of Los Angeles. The musical will run April
18 through May 31, 2009. Opening is set for April 24. "Misbehavin'"
joins a 2008-2009 season that will include the world premieres of two
major musical comedies, the winner of the
2007 Tony Award for Best Musical and the winner of the 2007 Tony Award
nomination for Best Play and the return of
the inimitable Dame Edna.
August Wilson's "Fences" to Get Broadway Revival

"Fences,"
the first play in August Wilson's 10-play cycle, will be revived in the fall in a Broadway production
to be directed by
Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright
Suzan-Lori Parks ("Topdog/Underdog"). Carole Shorenstein Hays, the San
Francisco-based producer who presented the original production of"Fences" is behind the revival.
