Singleton's "A-Team" Gets Firm Release Date
posted on Mar 21, 2008

Twentieth Century Fox has announced that the John Singleton ("Four Brothers," "Shaft") -directed "A-Team" is set for a June 12, 2009 release.

The adaptation of the popular 80s TV series will follow Hannibal Smith and his team of special force soldiers, who have been set up for a crime they didn't commit.

The action-adventure from a script by writing partners Michael Brandt and Derek Haas (Wanted and 3:10 to Yuma) will bring to the big screen the exploits of Hannibal Smith and his team of former special forces soldiers, who have been set up for a crime they didn't commit. The film will reportedly update the characters' back-stories to establish them as veterans of the Gulf War rather than Vietnam.

Casting hasn't been announced, though Ice Cube and Woody Harrelson have been mentioned as prospects for the lead roles.  Cube has said he would be interested in the role of B.A. Baracus, originally played by Mr T.
